Esfahan

 

Esfahan became the capital of Pesia a the end of 16th century. An important Armenian community arrived here form Jolfâ (Armenian border) to make the city more attractive. A new borough were created : new Jolfâ. An important Christian community lived here. Here is Vânk cathedral .

An important place is the Meidan, the Royal Place. Now, this place is called the Eman Khomeini Square. The Emam Mosque is very interesting.

Esfahan is not only a place with nice buildings, other place are the witness of the recent and tragic history of Iran. I.e. the Golestan cemetery dedicated to victims of Iran-Irak war.
