Deir ez Zor is a major town by its geographical location : on the road between Aleppo and the Iraki border and between Damascus and the North-West of Syria. Many oilfields were discovered in the aera.
After visiting the Syrian coast (Tartus), I intended to see a city of the desert in order to see and to feel the differences between the two environment.
Many Bedouins come to Deir ez-Zor to make purchase.

At Deir ez-Zor, it's possible to the Euphratus River, mythical river which is necessary to bring the life in this arid region.
Close to Deir ez-Zor, you could find different archeological sites, witnesses of the importance of the aera in the past.
