Hama
variants : Hamath - Epiphania - Emath - Hamah - Hammah

Hama, located on the banks of the Orontes River, is a major stop for the discovering of Syria. Town seems - at first sight - to be more austere and uncommunicative. Maybe, it's due to the repression after the "Hama uprising" of the Muslims Brotherhood.

However, it's a very enjoyable town to have some rest and a very good starting point to discover the region (the Krak des Chevaliers, Apamea, Dead Cities...)

Hama is also very known for its norias, already noticed by Ibn Battûta, great Moroccan traveller of the 13th century.
