Echmiadzin is considered as "The Holy See" of the Armenian Apostolic Church. According the legend, Saint Gregory the Illuminator had here a vision and founded the first church. This city was also the capital of Armenia between 180 and 340 AC. The Catholicos (the Armenian Pope) stay here.

I went two times to Echmiadzin : first on a Sunday, and then during the week. Very interesting experience because the atmosphere is very different.
