Shushi is a strange city. I read somewhere a phrase which typify the situation : it's a city who became a village. Before the war, there where 25.000 people in Shushi, mainly Azeri. This city overhang Stepanakert, so it was a "good" place to bombard Stepanakert. A counter-offensive happened on May 9, 1993.
Shushi was always the cultural capital of Karabakh. Now, it's a melancholic place.
The Shushi's numerous mosques are now deserted and destroyed.
